Instagram decided to remove the IGTV button from the homepage after it failed to get the response it expected from IGTV, which it launched in 2018. According to Shiftdelete’s report from TechCrunch; its biggest rival TikTok has had 80.5 million downloads in the US since June 2018, while IGTV has only had 1.1 million. Some innovations were deemed necessary for IGTV, which fell behind its competitor. In line with this, IGTV, which also started to support horizontal video, also found a place in Instagram’s main application. However, this innovation also led to the application being used via Instagram.
